The original artwork was done in Oil Pastels on Acid Free Paper, in 2015.
Style: I classify this piece as a Transitional Artwork incorporating Abstract Impressionism and Abstract Expressionism, and I think that is why I titled this artwork, “CONTRADICTION”. The subject is a field full of colourful flowers, especially red tulips. My grandmother loved to grow tulips, and she was a big influence for creating this art piece.
Speaking of my artistic influences for this work; I would attribute the main influences for this work being Georges Seurat, and my late grandmother, who was a painter, but she preferred acrylic paints. In fact, my grandmother first got me interested in painting when I was in my early teenage years. She wasn’t an abstract artist, but her love of painting was infectious. We spent many hours together…
